1. Overview & Establishment

Constituted in the year 2008 in accordance with the Guidelines of NAAC, the Equal Opportunity Cell functions as a vital supervisory and advisory body for Annada College, Hazaribag. Its primary aim is to safeguard the interests and foster the welfare of women, SC, ST, OBC, differently-abled (Divyangjan), and Minority students across all academic disciplines.

2. Core Purpose & Mandate

“To establish a barrier-free, non-discriminatory, and inclusive academic ecosystem that provides affirmative action, financial facilitation, skill training, and holistic support for marginalized, underprivileged, and differently-abled learners.”

4. Functions & Key Responsibilities

·         Affirmative Action: Implementing affirmative measures and dedicated welfare initiatives for SC, ST, and OBC communities.

·         Barrier-Free Infrastructure: Ensuring accessible, obstacle-free access across all college buildings, academic departments, central library, and administrative offices.

·         Divyangjan Resource Centre: Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of a dedicated Resource Centre specializing in the assistive needs of differently-abled students.

·         Zero Discrimination Policy: Strictly enforcing anti-discrimination safeguards on grounds of disability, caste, creed, or minority status.

·         Employable Skill Courses: Conducting specialized short-term skill development courses for Divyang students and raising campus-wide disability awareness.

·         Welfare Scheme Implementation: Executing government, statutory, and institutional welfare schemes tailored for women, SC, ST, OBC, Divyang, and Minority groups.

·         Financial Assistance & Grants: Facilitating financial aid and educational subsidies from Government bodies, NGOs, and internal college funds.

·         Scholarships & Freeships: Making systematic arrangements for timely disbursal of post-matric scholarships and institutional freeships.

·         Remedial & Extra Classes: Organizing remedial courses, bridge courses, and special coaching for educationally disadvantaged SC, ST, and Minority students.

·         Socio-Economic Problem Solving: Providing continuous counseling and mentorship to assist students in overcoming socio-economic and educational hurdles.

·         Inclusive Participation: Actively promoting the holistic participation of marginalized student groups in co-curricular, cultural, and sports activities.
