1. Overview & Mandate

The Committee for Campus Upkeep and Green Initiative is a supervisory and advisory body for Annada College, Hazaribag. Its primary aim is to oversee the comprehensive upkeep of the college campus—including buildings, playgrounds, parking zones, and botanical gardens—ensuring the campus caters efficiently to the needs of students and staff. Furthermore, the committee spearheads sustainable green initiatives to actively contribute to global and local environmental preservation movements.

2. Core Purpose & Sustainability Statement

“To maintain an aesthetically pleasing, resource-efficient, and sustainable college campus through renewable solar energy, zero-plastic protocols, rainwater harvesting, scientific waste management, technology integration, and biodiversity enhancement.”

4. Functions & Key Responsibilities

·         Campus Maintenance Advisory: Advising the college administration on the regular upkeep and beautification of campus buildings, playgrounds, parking lots, lawns, and gardens.

·         Budgetary Allocation: Recommending financial and budgetary provisions required for infrastructure maintenance and environmental sustainability projects.

·         Green Technology Promotion: Promoting digital and eco-friendly technology solutions as a pivotal tool to reduce the institution's ecological footprint.

·         Awareness & Workshops: Organizing seminars, interactive workshops, and sensitization campaigns on environmental ethics and sustainability.

·         Eco-Campaigns & Green Events: Conducting focused environmental drives including 'Polythene-Free Campus', 'No Vehicle Day', and clean campus initiatives.

·         Paper Conservation: Encouraging digital documentation among faculty and students to drastically minimize paper consumption.

·         Energy & Water Conservation: Enforcing power-saving protocols (switching off lights, optimized AC usage, energy-efficient appliances), solar panel setups, rainwater harvesting, water recycling, drip irrigation, and water tank sensors.

·         Waste Management & Afforestation: Prohibiting single-use disposable plastics, overseeing solid/liquid waste disposal, maintaining composting units, and leading sapling plantation and botanical conservation drives.

·         Environmental Auditing: Collecting and compiling empirical data to audit, monitor, and assess institutional environmental progress.

·         External Liaison & CSR Grants: Coordinating with local civic authorities and mobilizing CSR/donor funds from corporate houses and individuals for green infrastructure projects.
