BOTANY
DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY
Botany
is the scientific study of plant life. As a branch of Biology, it is also
sometimes referred to
as
Plant Science or Plant Biology. Botany covers a wide range of scientific
disciplines that study
the
structure, growth, reproduction, metabolism, development and diseases of
plants.
Botanists
and Plant Ecologists are needed to save our planet. There is amazing power in
these
unique
organisms and our world could not exist without them. Plants are crucial to the
future of
human
society. It contributes to development of new medicines and treatment for major
diseases.
Botany work in Agriculture, helps farmers use optimum planting and cultivation
techniques
to improve efficiency and effectiveness when growing crops.
Our
Department offers admission to the undergraduate course in Botany. Students can
take
admission
after completing XII with biology courses. The syllabus includes -
Microbiology,
Phycology,
Mycology, Archegoniates, Angiosperms anatomy, Systematics, Reproductive Biology
of
Angiosperms, Phytogeography, Economic Botany, Plant Ecology, Biomolecules,
Cytology,
Molecular
Biology, Genetics, Physiology, Plant Metabolism, Plant Breeding, Plant
Biotechnology,
Natural Resource Management, Environmental Education and Waste
Management
and Industrial Environmental Education. Our faculty helps to study this
syllabus in
a
simplified way and encourages students to do better in this course for their
future aspects.
There
is more opportunity for the students to do better in their future aspects as
they can work
as
