Department of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology at Annada College, Hazaribag was established in 2008, since then it has taken an active part in teaching at undergraduate level in the Biotech Programme. It is a three-year vocational degree program.

The Biotechnology course has the sole aim of imparting skill-based intensive training through classroom teaching, interactive discussions, acquisition of knowledge of how to handle sophisticated equipment and data storage and analysis, all of which will pave the way for avenues in areas of agriculture, the environment, pharmaceuticals, bioinformatics, biofuel and other biotech industries.

This department continues to channelize The students will be absorbed into various nationally reputed institutes and Universities for higher studies.

The laboratory of this department is fully Air conditioned and well equipped with all the necessary instruments. required for Biotech practical and various research activities.

It is a 3-year undergraduate programme leading to bachelor of biotechnology (Bio-tech) degree in the year 2008. In the In the last 13 years, since its inception, the programme has earned a very good reputation and is regarded as the best undergraduate programme. From the year 2015 the Biotechnology programme has been restructured according to Choose Based Credit System (CBCS).

The department has well qualified faculty members. Apart from them, faculty members of other universities/organisations are invited regularly to deliver special lectures and conduct theory classes. The department has well equipped laboratory.

Biotechnology at glance

Biotechnology is a broad area of biology, involving the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make products. These days, modern biotechnology is synonymous with genetic engineering, where Genes are modified, removed, or manipulated to change the deoxyribonucleic acid. (DNA) information of organisms. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

. A candidate who has passed I.Sc./+2 examination with Biology and has obtained 45% marks in aggregate is eligible for the course. Appearing candidates may also apply, however, they must submit their marksheet before the admission.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Application form and prospectus can be obtained from the department or college counter on payment of Rs.300 in cash.

Documents to be submitted along with application form:

1.     Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate (Original)

2.     Statement of marks of qualifying examination (photocopy)

3.     Admit card of qualifying examination (photocopy)

4.  Aadhaar card (photocopy)

      5. Caste certificate

      6. Coloured photograph - 5 in number

Note:

Candidate must carry relevant original certificates and prescribed fees with them at the time of admission.

MAXIMUM INTAKE

The total no. of seats in Biotechnology is 50 (fifty) out of which 05 (five) seats are reserved for NRI students. Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC will be followed as per the rules and regulations of Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribag.
