Lecture on Effect of Tobacco on Health
A special awareness lecture on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption on human health was organized on 25th April 2026. The session highlighted the health risks associated with smoking and tobacco use, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory disorders.
Butterfly Expedition Program 2025
Biotechnology department participated in the Butterfly Expedition Program 2025, organized by the DFO, Hazaribagh, along with the Butterfly Man of Jharkhand, Shri Prabhat Kumar. The expedition provided students with practical exposure to butterfly diversity, identification, habitat, and the importance of butterfly conservation
Vermicompost Making Workshop
A Vermicompost Making Workshop was organized on 30th May 2026 to provide students with practical knowledge of sustainable waste management and organic manure production. Students learned about the preparation of vermicompost using biodegradable organic waste and the role of earthworms in converting waste into nutrient-rich compost.
Internship at Sudha Dairy, Ranchi
Students participated in an internship programme at Sudha Dairy, Ranchi, from 5 to 20 February 2026. The internship provided practical exposure to dairy processing, quality control, milk handling, and various aspects of the dairy industry.
Induction Programme 2026
The Induction Programme 2026 was organized on 8th September 2026 to welcome and orient the newly admitted students. The programme introduced students to the college, academic activities, departmental facilities, student support services, and opportunities for their overall development.
Hypertension Awareness Programme
A Hypertension Awareness Programme was organized on 10th August 2026 to create awareness among students and faculties about high blood pressure and its impact on health. Former cardiologist Dr. Krishna Kumar has led the session. The programme highlighted the importance of a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, regular physical activity, and routine blood pressure monitoring.
Inauguration of New Biotechnology Laboratory (November 2025)
The new Biotechnology Laboratory of the department was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Chandra Bhushan Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Vinoba Bhave University, in November 2025.
National Science Day Celebration 2026
The Department of Biotechnology organized the National Science Day celebration, promoting scientific awareness, creativity, and interest in science among students. On the occasion, Biotechnology students also participated in a VBU-level competition and secured Second Prize, bringing recognition to the department.
