1. Overview & Institutional
Mandate
Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC) are being
established across the country under the Election Commission of India (ECI) to
promote electoral literacy among Indian citizens of all age groups through
engaging, interesting activities and hands-on experience in an apolitical,
neutral, and non-partisan manner.
At Annada College, Hazaribag, the Electoral
Literacy Club is established to target new and future voters (in the age group
of 18-21 years old) pursuing their graduation. The club comprises students from
all academic semesters as its members, empowering them to actively engage in
the democratic process.

4. Key Objectives & Focus
Areas

Voter Education &
Experience: To
educate the targeted youth population about voter registration, the electoral
process, and related statutory procedures through experiential learning and
hands-on activities.

EVM & VVPAT
Familiarization: To facilitate hands-on familiarization and education regarding
the robustness of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper
Audit Trail (VVPAT), upholding the integrity of the electoral process.

Informed & Ethical
Franchise: To help
young voters understand the supreme value of their vote and encourage them to
exercise their right to franchise in a confident, comfortable, and ethical
manner.

Community Voter Literacy: To harness the active potential
of ELC student members in carrying electoral literacy and voter awareness into
local and rural communities.

Voter Registration
Facilitation: To
facilitate prompt and seamless voter ID registration (Form 6) for all eligible
college students who have attained 18 years of age and are not yet enrolled on
the electoral roll.
·
Democratic Culture &
Universal Enrolment: To develop a culture of proactive electoral participation and
maximize informed voting, following the core guiding principles 'Every Vote
Counts' and 'No Voter to be Left Behind'.
